Some days you really just can’t be f’d to get in the shower – let alone wash your hair. Whether it be Monday before work or Saturday before drinks. It’s not that you’re lazy…ok well maybe it is…but the fact of the matter is that it’s annoying and it means we have to have to go out with wet hair.

The only solution we used to have was the good old baby powder but nowadays we have something even better. And something that doesn’t leave white spotty stains – dry shampoo.

Initially we only had one type of dry shampoo on the market giving us poor women an extra day to get by with dirty hair in the work place.

Now though, there are multiple dry shampoo’s on the shelves, all claiming to do a variety of different things. Lucky us right? Getting more than what we bargained for. You can now get ones which add texture and volume, double as a perfume and even help you get away with dirty roots by adding a bit of colour.

The only problem with dry shampoo is that most people don’t know how to use it. They think they can just spray all over, give it a bit of a  and they’ll have perfect looking hair. Wrong. There is a method and the method works.

First off, you need to start by spraying the hair line. One ear to the other with a space of 1-2inches between the can and your forehead.

Next, split your hair into sections and spray all your roots. This way you’ve got volume and texture coming up from the bottom through the hair.

Lastly, get your hands in there and massage it all in. Shaking and flipping your hair as you go so as to get even more volume. Followed by a quick de-tangle with the brush to smooth out any fly away’s.

As much as you need to follow the method, there are also a few things you need to be aware of. The classic do’s & don’ts.

DO spray the roots
DON’T spray on damp or wet hair
DON’T spray too close
DO alternate between dry shampoo’s
DON’T keep touching your hair
Got it? Good.
