Spring and summer are right around the corner for those living in the northern hemisphere and while swimsuit models have to been in shape year round, one has to ponder, how do these beauties stay in such great shape?

The truth of the matter is that anyone can look like a bikini-ready model, by following these simple exercise and dietary tips.

First and foremost, it is important to eat three meals a day. Many people are under the misconception that cutting back on meals means losing weight, while eating three balanced meals actually increases your metabolism. This is complete with having snacks in between meals.

The key here though is to eat healthy, high protein and low carbohydrates; while limiting your sugar intake. Cut out the sugary juice drinks and stick to organic whenever possible, as well as avoid processed foods. It is easy to eat healthy too when you plan ahead. It is also important to eat a majority of your calories before 3 p.m. and have a light dinner. Nutrition though is only part of the equation and fitness is also a key component.

While we are not saying you need to work out around the clock, there are a couple of exercises most swimsuit models do to keep their body bikini ready at all times. It is really important to have at least 30 minutes of cardio exercise every day. The key here is to stick to a routine that works for you, so for example, if you do not like running you should pick another activity, whether is the exercise bike or elliptical trainer. Another strategic point is to switch up your routine every day. In order to be in the best shape possible, the body needs to be shocked and when you do the same thing, day in, day out, it will not result in change.

Most people, models and non-models alike do not like doing crunches. We do not believe in going overboard for washboard abs, but a modified sit up does wonders. How does this work exactly? There are two different exercise techniques here and the key is to build up slowly and start with 25 reps of each.

One method is cross your legs up in the air while doing a repetition of 25 and alternate with sit ups with your  legs moving in a bicycle fashion, while alternating (with hands behind your head) side to side.

Another great exercise routine for models and non-models alike, is to do lunges. A good test for strength is to see how many lunges you can do in 60 seconds and then build up from there.

Last, a fabulous exercise to get your body bikini ready is to do planks. Start with 30 seconds facing the ground and then alternate side to side. In addition to strength training, this is great for your core. This is everything you will need this season to get ready for the tiniest of bikini and look like the inner model you are.
