In the spirit of VH1 television series “Where Are They Now?” we are taking a spinoff of the show to look at what some of the hottest supermodels on the runway are doing now career-wise. From supporting charities to starting a family, these women have stepped off of the runway and are definitely pursuing bigger and better dreams. This is what some of the famous runway faces are up to now.
Kate Moss was discovered at age 14 by the founder of Storm Model Management at the JFK airport in New York City. She is known for her role in the size zero fashion and her waifish figure. During her career, she has appeared on the cover of more than 300 magazines such as Vogue, Elle, Vanity Fair and Esquire. Moss also starred in advertising campaigns for many of the top fashion designers, including Chanel, Calvin Klein and Christian Dior.
She received a Fashion Icon award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America in June 2005. In 2013, she received an award from the British Fashion Awards recognizing her work in the fashion industry over the last 25 years. Today, Kate continues to design her own personal line of hand bags, a clothing line and is also involved in the music industry. Time magazine named her as one of the world’s one hundred most influential people.
Naomi Campbell first showed up on the modeling scene at the age of 15 and during the course of her runway career was named one of the 6 “supermodels” of her generation by the fashion industry. In addition to her runway career, Naomi has also pursued other ventures including a R&B album, multiple television and film appearances.
In recent years, she has starred on the hit modeling competition television series, The Face. The supermodel is also involved in multiple charities, supporting the Nelson Mandela Children’s fund and Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Although she stopped runway work in 1998, she still does print modeling with a recent Vogue cover. In 2015, she signed with the FOX series, Empire, where she has a recurring role as a fashion designer.
Cindy Crawford has more than 30 years of success in the modeling industry and has appeared on hundreds of magazine covers. This supermodel was named by Forbes in 1995 as the highest paid supermodel on the planet. Her work as an International supermodel, has led to multiple rolls in television and film; including Unzipped, The Secret of My Success (with Michael J. Fox), Cougar Town, and her personal fitness videos.
She quit full-time modeling in 2000 and now occasionally only does modeling for magazine covers (she was on the cover Vogue Mexico in May 2011). Cindy continues to endorse celebrities and has three different furniture lines under the Cindy Crawford Home Collection. In 2014, she led a rally promoting environmentally healthy schools in Malibu when several teachers reported health issues dues to toxic soils.
