The Casino of Monte Carlo is one of the oldest and most luxurious venues when it comes to land-based operators. The coast has been an “earth on heaven” type of place for artists, filmmakers, actors, and fashion designers due to its scenic views, azure seaside, 5-star hotels, and leisurely lifestyle, slow time spent lavishly. High society from all over the world fell in love with this small kingdom’s shore.

The idea of opening a casino in this area belonged to Prince Charles of Monaco. He believed that launching a spa for the treatment of various diseases in conjunction with setting gambling tables could attract more visitors to the region, helping to solve financial problems the kingdom had to deal with in the late 1850s.

After years of changing the location of the casino, the final decision was taken, and construction was completed in 1863. From the first years of operation, the casino started to bring profit to the State of Monaco. Something you may not know is that all Monégasques are banned from working or gambling at the casino, following the initiative of Princess Caroline.

Although citizens of Monaco are banned from playing at the Casino, that doesn’t mean they don’t love to partake in gambling. Online betting platforms, casinos, and poker rooms have never been as accessible as they are now.

Locals participate in many games through offshore sites. Like players in the UK often choose to do, looking for Non-GamStop Betting Sites, even though these platforms are not licensed by the UKGC. But we’re here today not to talk about these kinds of things, but rather to know more about the luxury and style of the industry.

Besides the Casino and multiple spa resorts, Monte Carlo is a destination point for major fashion events, such as Chanel fashion shows. The influence of Gabrielle Chanel on the ethos, sense of fashion, and life perception is remarkable. It all started with her love of ballet, and back in 1927, when she helped her friend Serge Diaghilev, one of the most talented ballet impresarios of that time, maintain the production of ‘The Rite of Spring’, which later became a big success among the “Monte-Carlo Société”. She gave him a cheque providing him with the funds he desperately needed to bring the production to life.

She has designed all the costumes for this ballet, which range from swimsuits to sportswear inspired by summertime and “Unbearable Lightness of Being” at the French Riviera. In 1928, the Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer launched the Monte-Carlo Beach Hotel as a homage to the Mediterranean influence in art and lifestyle.

In the same year, 1928, high in the La Torraca area of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, Coco built her home here, which she named La Pausa, surrounded by olive trees and a vast garden. A villa in classic Mediterranean style stands on top of the hill overlooking the sea and the stunning landscape. Some of the regular guests who have attended this house include names like Igor Stravinsky, Jean Cocteau, Pablo Picasso, Luchino Visconti, Somerset Maugham, and other spectacular personalities of that time.

In 2022, Chanel paid tribute to their illustrious founder, organizing one of the most significant fashion events dedicated to Formula 1 and Casinos, completing the idea with playful details and bringing the atmosphere fun and nonchalant Mediterranean life. Tiny bags in the shape of slots of machines and card packs, rings and necklaces in the form of classic bags, recalls of Le Train Bleu Ballet designs, pink and blue in conjunction with floral accessories, uniforms inspired by Formula 1, all the collection is full of reminders of good times when Coco went up on catwalk introducing new trends to the audience.

The event was happening by the poolside of the Monaco Beach Hotel. While the guests are enjoying their cocktails sitting in sun chairs, models are walking through them wearing jumpsuits, summer dresses, tennis suits in a classic Chanel print, combining them with accessories like tennis racket bags, classic red purses, necklaces, and earrings in gold, floral, and colors of Formula 1. Virginie Viard, head designer of the time, had delivered the atmosphere and memories of the epoch connected to the Rose Ball, evenings of Monte-Carlo Ballet and nights at the Casino in the mid-20th century.

“To me, Monaco is a matter of feelings above all,”  confessed Virginie, reminding us that this collection is not so much about clothing, but about memories, tastes, lifestyle, and love for life itself.

As it was stated by Gabriel Chanel herself, the one who introduced summer fashion to Parisian conservative high society, she challenged perceptions of female wardrobe and femininity in general.

Since 1919, cruise collections have become a core element of Monaco’s summer events. She created the idea of glamorous leisurewear for women who used to spend their holidays at Biarritz and the French Riviera. Bringing the idea that you can still look chic and playful between beachescapes and cocktail hours.

The Chanel woman is a kind of woman you could meet at the Casino of Monte Carlo; she is placing her bet without fear of failure, she is confident, and can afford to wear whatever she wants, even if it is a suit, for men.

Regardless of your personal preferences in fashion, whether you’re a big admirer or “that’s not your cup of tea,” Chanel Cruise is a type of event that you wouldn’t like to miss.
