There tends to be many crossover career moves, especially when it comes to musicians turned actors and vice versa. Is there the same type of career crossover when it comes to the fashion industry? The answer may or may not surprise you, but the answer here is yes. The following are a couple of beauties who have graced magazine covers, as well as the runway. These particulars models are now making an appearance on the silver screen.
While Kate Upton is notoriously famous and readily recognizable for her Sports Illustrated cover, she is also known for her modeling cover work for Vogue, Cosmopolitan, GQ, Esquire among many, many others. When exactly did this beauty break into Hollywood? In 2011, Kate Upton proved that she was not just another pretty face and her talent shined in the 2011 film The Tower Heist. While this was a small role, she was able to use it as a springboard to land a co-starring role with Cameron Diaz, in the comedic hit The Other Woman. Tyra Banks is a fashion industry icon, with her modeling career starting at age 16. While this supermodel has graced the covers of Teen Vogue, Elle, Cosmopolitan, and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue; she has also made a big splash with television. She first broke into television with a role on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air; she also made numerous television appearances on shows such as Felicity, Gossip Girl, Glee and the ever-so-popular talk show, The Tyra Banks Show. Tyra Banks not only has dominated the television scene, but the silver screen as well, with roles in Higher Learning, Love & Basketball and a fan favorite as Zoe in Coyote Ugly. Finally yet importantly, Tyra Banks acted in the 2008 film Tropic Thunder and most people on the planet know her for the hit show America’s Top Model.
Brooklyn Decker is another supermodel to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated and has also had numerous high end fashion industry gigs with major players such as Victoria’s Secret, The Gap, Glamour, and Teen Vogue to name a few. The supermodel turned actor is most popular for her silver screen role in Just Go With It, starring alongside A-lister’s Jennifer Aniston, Nicole Kidman and Adam Sandler. The movie appearances did not stop here either. Brooklyn Decker also shined in Battleship, What to Expect When You’re Expecting, Stretch and Ugly Betty, among others. Last but not least, she landed the lead role in the 2014 television comedy, Friends With Better Lives.
Milla Jovovich has been on the silver screen for so long there are many fans out there that know her as an actor only and not as a former supermodel. This supermodel turned actor began her modeling career at age 12 as she made her debut on the cover of the cover of the Italian magazine, Lei. Along with many other supermodels, she has appeared on the covers for Vogue and Cosmopolitan and she has also modeled for over 100 U.S. based magazines. Her movie appearances are plentiful. Milla Jovovich has acted in multiple box office hits including The Fifth Element starring Bruce Willis, Resident Evil and Zoolander to name a few.
