Designer Victoria Beckham is slightly more than meets the eye. This fashion icon has clearly transformed from a former Spice Girl to a fashion designer who has more than brought clearly innovative ideas to the fashion industry. This popular designer’s ready-to-wear collections have graced the runways during the popular fashion week shows and are not just limited to clothing … think accessories, eyewear, and much, much, more. Many industry insiders and fans ask the question if there is more to Victoria Beckham than meets the eye. We are more than happy to share the following insights.
As an internationally recognized fashion icon and top designer, Victoria Beckham has not only collaborated with high profile brands, she has launched her own lines including the eponymous label in 2008, as well as a lower-priced diffusion label (Victoria by Victoria Beckham) in 2011. Outside of the fashion world, Victoria Beckham’s achievements and charity work is impressive to say the least.
In the film scene, the model has made appearances in movies such as Zoolander, Ugly Betty and Spice World; while debuting in her own reality series in shows such as Victoria’s Secrets, Being Victoria Beckham, and The Real Beckhams. On the charitable front, Victoria Beckham has been an advocate for faux furs for years winning the support of PETA, a patron of the Elton John AIDS Foundation and earned an award in 2010 for her work with Save the Children. In recent years, the designers has done extensive charity work for the UN in Africa.
Victoria Beckham is followed by the major fashion publications, Vogue to name one of the many, and is known for putting a couture spin on street style wear and signature stiletto pumps. The fashion designer has also recently introduced a sportier look in her collections (think tracksuit-like trousers and bomber jackets); which was exemplified when landing in Paris for the Paris Couture Week wearing a pair of Adidas superstars in the airport. Her husband David Beckham also follows his fashionable wife’s lead and has been seen sporting cosy layers with a fresh streetwear vibe.
The paparazzi clearly took notice of her 2017 spring ready-to-wear collection with precious silks and velvets; and beautiful knit dresses exposing clingy knit bras underneath. The line also featured flat knee-high boots created from canvas and leather, bras were a huge story paired with silk suits and skirts hugging the hip bones. The overall theme for her 2017 line was relaxed and the popular selling point was all about luscious colour.
The designer also incorporated peppermint and lilac which was also used in her iridescent, cross-body bags. In other designs, she incorporated light floral designs with stunning white leather. Her 2016 -2017 fall/winter collection showcased orange and brown colours combined with rough surface textures which were influenced by her charity work in Africa. The line included tweedy coats and ballooning dresses, as well as silhouette dresses made from knit layers. Victoria Beckham is truly a fashion icon and one to watch in 2017.
