Can anyone look like a model? The answer might surprise you…the answer is yes.

Here are a couple of tips and tricks to look like an industry insider when it may not be the case. And, if you are an aspiring model, be sure to take note of the following tips and tricks.

Rule Number one:
Read fashion magazines. A lot of them, and read them from front to back. The fashion magazines will keep you updated on the latest looks and most importantly, the latest industry insights. A couple to keep an eye on are Vogue, Elle, Allure, to name a few, and these are great for not only fashion, but new hairstyles and makeup trends. On the other hand, if you are looking for the fashion model runway look, you should step it up a notch and check out more targeted publications, such as Flaunt, Zink, W. to name a couple. These magazines are actually for models who are active in the industry and share very important insider information.

Rule Number two:
Educate yourself about the fashion industry designers. The internet is your friend. It is really easy to go on to Wikipedia and check out major fashion designers profiles. Their bio is there, as well as their entire career, so anyone is really able to check out where the designer label is currently at from a production standpoint. If you do not know a lot about fashion, another resource is to check out the multiple fashion blogs that are online. Again, Google is your friend.

Rule Number three:
Just be yourself. While you are pursuing through the many fashion magazines above, it is very important to find a style and a look that really is something you are comfortable with in your own skin. First of all, select clothes that truly reflect your lifestyle and not something that is a current trend that simply will not work. Another important item is to truly develop your own signature look. Many models do this from purses to trendy accessories, but keep in mind this is not something you need to do every day. A great example of this is Jackie O. and her signature suits.

Rule Number four:
Shoes are very important. Pick styles that you will wear each season that work for your feet. After all, not everyone has narrow feet that can pull off four inch heals on a daily basis. Your lifestyle also comes into play here and you should select what works for you. This could mean trendy flip flops and sandals for summer, and low cut wedges, or trendy boot styles for winter. Pick the shoes that work for you. At the end of the day, by following the above rules anyone can look like a model.
