It took me four years of living in New York city to find my home, and by ‘home,’ I mean; the right hair salon.

The struggle to find a perfect stylist and salon in the city can be almost as excruciating and heartbreaking as finding a soul mate. If you’ve ever attempted this search, you understand exactly what I mean…

My love affair with Cutler Salon started the first time I met with Ryan Pearl, the NJ charmer who is the hair stylist version of me; constantly surrounded by models and beautiful people.

But it was more than just finding the stylist who perfected my color – the salon instantly felt like my second home.

Everything about the place just shines; from the sleek, glam layout, to the smiles on each stylist’s face. Friendly, welcoming and down to earth. Upscale, yet not pretentious.

From their ever-growing presence at Fashion Week, to the high fashion pages of ELLE and Vogue, and the primetime airwaves- Cutler has stayed on the pulse of beauty and fashion since their opening, over fifteen years ago. They continue to thrive, with three bustling locations in New York City, that also act as flagships for Redken. The uniquely slick and minimalist spaces have become showcases for a talented and inimitable team of over 150 hairdressers and colorists, as well as editorial stylists catering to celebrity and high- fashion clientele.

Cutler’s stylists boast countless magazine credits. They have worked with the most sought after celebrities, and created stunning looks for the fashion pages, inspired by their work on the runway.

As with many international success stories, there is a trusted Aussie mastermind behind the brand. A leader in creativity and education within the beauty and fashion industries, Rodney Cutler has a hand in shaping today’s foremost trends. With a constant eye on fashion and style, Rodney has cultivated a loyal celebrity following, with clientele including Emma Watson (he was the mastermind behind her pixie cut), Naomi Watts, Rachael Ray, Jamie King, Gavin DeGraw, and Jordin Sparks, among others. Despite being one of today’s most sought after stylists, Rodney has stayed true to his roots (pardon the pun). His passion for hair and sincere personality continue to shine through in his work — from the set up of his relaxed, welcoming salons, to his talented, friendly team. Each Cutler location exudes Rodney’s vibrant, enthusiastic energy, while maintaining a warm and open feel.

With this in mind, in planning the #dininginthespotlight event, I knew Cutler was the perfect salon to collaborate and trust with the night. Not only did the team take on the project with amazing enthusiasm, they literally shut down the fort as staging for the prep of the shoot. Doors were shut at six PM, with the salon’s tops stylists lined up, ready to take in the models as they arrived. It was perfectly organized chaos, and the team handled it like the experts they are.
