And then came Naima to save the day, a 22 year old born-and-raised New Yorker, hailing from the East Village. She studied Writing and Literature at Emerson College, and has been freelance writing and fashion styling since she was just 16 years old. She came to the table with a wealth of experience in all things fashion and journalism and we couldn’t have asked for a better combination.

Naima jumped head first into the AMFAM team as our content manager as well as contributing her personal work and writing exclusively for the website.

She attended the United Nations International School from elementary to high school, which, combined with her biracial background and NYC upbringing, is about as diverse the melting pot can get!

With a Pakistani mother and a Russian Jew out of Brooklyn as her parents, and a Sikh boyfriend, she enjoys interweaving her fashion work (both writing and styling) with probing cultural discussions of all kinds. Her role models are strong female authors like Toni Morrison and Jhumpa Lahiri, and she hopes to one-day belong to the same category as them.

We feel like she’s closer than she thinks, and are so excited to have this talented young lady party of the AMFAM fam.
