Interview with Josephine Skriver, by Kristopher Fraser

How’d you end up modeling?

I was discovered on streets when I was in NYC, but I did not want to model at the time. Then, when I was back in Denmark I was spotted by an agent again, and eventually I chose my agency, Unique Models.

Who are your inspirations?

Hmmm….I love the 90’s models, that to me is the definition of a supermodel. Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, that to me was what I associated with being a supermodel… Now it seems that modeling is more of like… “The It Girl,” instead of the supermodel, and I miss that whole idea of the 90’s.
What was your biggest career highlight?

YSL and Tom Ford Beauty campaigns

What are some of the biggest misconceptions of models?

Hmmmm… Get back to me on that one.

Is there anything you would change about the industry?

I wish the industry didn’t consider social media so much.

What have been some of your favorite runway shows to do?

Victoria’s Secret (if you consider that a runway show). I also love Louis Vuitton, and Chanel, there is just something about those shows.

Interview with Mara Teigen, by Kristopher Fraser

How did you get into modeling?

I started a few years ago. A friend suggested I do it, and [my friend] had a friend who showed her picture to a Wilhelmina agent, and I eventually signed with Wilhelmina.

How long have you been modeling?

Two years.

What has been one of your biggest career highlights?

Hmm… The Milani Cosmetics campaign.

What is one of the biggest misconceptions about models?

People often think [we] are snobby, stuck up, or conceited. We’re not, you just have to get to know us.

What is your must have high fashion item?

My YSL clutch.

What is one thing you wish would change about the industry?

Hmm… Hmm… Nothing really… Oh, wait! I wish they’d stop doing castings. I REALLY wish they’d stop doing castings.

Interview with Vita Sidorkina, by Kristopher Fraser

How did you get into modeling?

I was discovered through facebook, then I was spotted by an agent in New York, but I didn’t want to do it at the time, and then I was spotted again by a woman in Moscow, and finally I said, let me try and model.

How long have you been modeling?

Since I was 13, I was going back and forth between Moscow and a lot of different places because I was still in school. I spent my first few years modeling in Japan, actually.

Are you studying anything at the moment?

Right now I am not in university. I believe you have to be focused, and I don’t like spreading myself too thin everywhere… So I’m focusing on my modeling career.

What is one of your biggest career highlights?

Well… I would say one of my biggest career highlights was two years ago, when I moved to New York, it’s now that my career is taking off.

What is one of the biggest misconceptions about models?

Well… Models are not stupid girls. People think they are girls with nothing in their heads, when they are [actually] very educated.

How do you stay in such good shape?

Believe it or not… boxing.

Kickboxing or regular boxing?

Regular boxing. Most people can’t believe I do it.

What is one food you could live without?

You know some people love pizza – my boyfriend, for example, loves pizza – but you could put one in front of me and I wouldn’t even touch it, it does nothing for me. [Also] chips… they don’t really do anything for me. They taste like nothing. They don’t fill me up. Sweets, on the other hand, I do love. I could eat cakes all day.
