For models and non-models alike, it truly is all about the hair.

Alana Kristian, a vibrant, trendy, youthful and boutique salon located in the suburbs of Eastern Sydney, has become a finalist for the 2017 AHFA Awards. Those in the modeling industry are clearly not surprised as the vibrant salon comes complete with master stylists. This team of beauty and hair professionals, and a family-owned business, truly provides the luxury experience to anyone who walks through their doors, and we cannot be more pleased that Alana Kristian is being recognized for their talent and phenomenal stylist work.

What exactly are the AHFA Awards? The simple answer is that the AHFA Awards are the Australian Hair Fashion Awards, but at the same time, they are much, much more. The Australian Hair Fashion Awards, presented this year by L’Oréal, is the largest and most independent hair styling awards program that has been growing monumentally every year. The program attracts entries from hundreds of salons and individuals all across Australia. The entry process is crucial and are judged by a panel of international industry professionals, each who are utterly qualified to judge and bring a wealth of experience to the whole judging process in the industry.

While the entries are closed (the deadline was in 2016, Friday, December 9th ), Gala tickets are still available starting at $285 per person. Who exactly are the judges? Well, while we cannot get into everyone’s bio (there are far too many), and all are sure to impress anyone who is a stylist; we picked a couple to highlight. Mary Greenwell’s resume speaks for itself. This icon has worked with Princess Dianna to Australian beauty Cate Blanchett. Touted as one of the top makeup artists for the past 30 years, she is also a regular on the Sam McKnight show. Another Judge, Phillip Dupee is a Commercial Director specializing in fashion, as well as beauty, and is the owner of The Love Commercial Company. There are bunches of other qualified professionals who are judges this year, but let us get more into the award just a bit.

First, the AHFA Awards, specifically the AHFA Salon Business of the Year is a category open to independent salons and salons that are part of a franchise or salon group. All content submission must be conducted between November 2015 through November 2016. The awards are not new by any means as this year marks the 25th year! The bottom line is that finalist recognition for Alana Kristian salon is a huge honor and we could not be more proud!
